Who Can Legally Carry Pepper Spray in California?

According to California law, anyone can purchase and carry pepper spray or tear gas for self-defense, as long as they meet these basic criteria: The canister must be less than 2.5 ounces. The user must be at least 18 years old. The user must not be addicted to narcotics. The user must not have any felony convictions. The weapon must only be used for self-defense.
